Amber Wiest is a 2nd year doctoral student in the department of Sport Management, from Pennsylvania. She is advised by Dr. Michael Giardina. Amber earned a MA in Physical Cultural Studies from the University of Maryland. Her research interests include sport for youth development, critical pedagogy, and feminist studies.

 

Christopher McLeod

Christopher McLeod is a 2nd year doctoral student in the department of Sport Management, from Christchurch, New Zealand. He is advised by Dr. Joshua Newman. Chris earned a B.PhEd. from the University of Otago, and a MS in Sport Management from Florida State University. His research interests include biopolitics, cultural citizenship, and physical cultural studies.

Matthew Horner

Administration & Strategy

Matthew Horner is a 2nd year doctoral student in the department of Sport Management, from Winter Springs, Florida. He is advised by Dr. Joshua Newman. Matthew earned a BS in Economics from the US Air Force Academy, and a MBA from the American Military University. His research interests include critical organizational studies, politics of play.

Simon Brandon-Lai

Marketing & Communications

Simon Brandon-Lai is a 2nd year doctoral student in the department of Sport Management, from London, England. He is advised by Dr. Jeffrey James. Simon earned a BA in Sport and Coaching Studies from Oxford Brookes University, a MSc in Sport and Health Sciences from the University of Exeter, and a MS in Sport and Recreation Management from Temple University. His research interests include consumer outcomes of organizational behavior and participation sports.

Cole Armstrong

Doctoral Fellow

Cole Armstrong is a 3rd year doctoral candidate in the department of Sport Management, from Saskatchewan, Canada. He is advised by Dr. Michael Giardina. Cole earned a BS in Physical Education, and a MS in Physical Education and Exercise Science from the University of Central Missouri. His research interests include identity, new media, sport marketing, and athlete transition.

Elizabeth Delia

Elizabeth Delia is a 3rd year doctoral candidate in the department of Sport Management, from Oswego, New York. She is advised by Dr. Jeffrey James. Elizabeth earned a BS in Marketing, and a MBA from the State University of New York at New Palz. Her research interests include branding, consumer behavior, and qualitative methods

Mark DiDonato

Mark DiDonato is a 3rd year doctoral candidate in the department of Sport Management, from Vineland, New Jersey. He is advised by Dr. Joshua Newman. Mark earned a BS in Sport Management, and a MA in Leadership from Towson University. His research interests include political economy, geography, and qualitative GIS.

Matthew Hawzen

Matthew Hawzen is a 1st year doctoral student in the Department of Sport Management, from Hillsborough, New Jersey. He is advised by Dr. Joshua Newman. Matthew earned a BS in Sport Management from Towson University, and a MS in Kinesiology and Health Studies from Queens University. His research interests include political economy, identity politics, physical culture, and the body.

Wilma Proctor

Wilma Proctor is a 2nd year doctoral student in the department of Sport Management, from South Hill, Anguilla. She is advised by Dr. Joshua Newman. Wilma earned a BS in Horticulture from Iowa State University, and a MS in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy. Her research interests include female coaches, inequality, pathways, and athletics.

Neal Ternes

Neal Ternes is a 1st year doctoral student in the department of Sport Management, from Overland Park, Kansas. He is advised by Dr. Michael Giardina. Neal earned a BS  in Health and Sport Studies/Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Iowa, and a MS in Sport Management from Florida State University. His research interests include sport and media, and college sports.

Sherrina Lofton

Sherrina Lofton is a 1st year doctoral student in the department of Sport Management, from Fairfield, California. She is advised by Dr. Joshua Newman. Sherrina earned a BS in Finance and Real Estate from, and a MS in Counseling from California State University Northridge. Her research interests include athlete transitions, retired athletes, and athlete well-being.
